Energy and climate change will be under the spotlight as a group of Russian-speaking journalists leave for Algeria on 27 September. Ukraine, Russia, Belarus and Moldova will provide the team of Neighbourhood Journalists who will be uncovering stories in the North African State.
The control and distribution of important resources such as oil and gas have been top of the news agenda in many parts of Eastern Europe over recent years. This training visit, organised by the European Neighbourhood Journalism Network will provide the perfect opportunity to look at these issues from a very different perspective in the oil-rich state of Algeria.
In addition to making comparisons with the domestic energy stories, the team will be scrutinising the issue of climate change as we approach the International Summit on Climate Change in Copenhagen in December this year. As concern about the impact of climate change gathers attention around the globe, the team will be keen to tell their own audiences how the issue is being tackled around the Neighbourhood area and to see first-hand, how the EU is addressing it.
The visit to Algiers will include interviews with experts from the EU including Wahiba Labreche press officer of EC delegation and Algeria as well as senior politicians such as the Ministers for Foreign Affairs and the Minister for Energy.
Stories from the assignment will be posted on this site in the Community (http://training.journalismnetwork.eu/)section where you can find high quality content from all previous training sessions.
